The alarm clock that runs and hides so you’ll never oversleep again

I need one of these! I've resorted to hiding my cellphone (which doubles as my alarm clock) behind the bedside table now so that I can't just reach and hit the snooze button. I once overslept for an afternoon class too O.o

The Joy of Technology

So my friend left me his Xbox 360 and a bunch of games while he's overseas - probably a bad idea to be playing in the face of all my university assignments and work I need to do, but it's just too irresistible! I have it hooked up to my surround sound system and tiny little CRT TV - pity, because it doesn't do the gorgeous HD graphics any justice. At least the sound is up to scratch as I've discovered. Gaming in proper surround sound brings things to a whole new level! Now the last time I played any games seriously was probably around the time of Quake 2 with the exception of messing around with some race sims whenever I visit my brother, and things have moved on a bit.

I have been playing Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter the last couple of days - how awesome! It's in a way what I expected Gears of War to be like, quite a bit of strategy and interesting gameplay as opposed to madly shooting at things. Very cool, and the 2nd installment is waiting for when I finish this one...

Orange River Trip Album

I created a mini-gallery of my favourites from the Orange River canoe trip in Namibia, which is now up. I wish I had taken a few more pics on the water but it was a bit of a mission as it was very wet and my gear spent most of the time inside a water-proof camera case, strapped down with bungie cords - not exactly what you'd call "easily accessible". It would have been nice to have a water-proof camera like the Pentax Optio W30 or something with an underwater housing. Sadly, most of the camp sites weren't great photo locations either with sunrises/sunsets obscured by the tall mountains on either side of the river. In any case, I am quite happy with the ones that I did get :-)

Work-mode On

Great, so I got back safely from my river adventure on the Orange River. Pics coming soon -- after a quick glance yesterday I found a few worthy shots out of the 500-odd I took :-) This morning was off to such a great start when I got stuck in really bad traffic on the way to the office. Oh well, I suppose most people are back to work by now. At least my inbox didn't look quite as bad as I expected it to be! And to boot, it feels really nice to be driving around in a real *car* as opposed to a WW2 battle tank 4x4.
